Blacklock Blast – April 15

April 15, 2021

What a wonderful week of sunshine, blue skies, and the bursting of colour in our gardens!  This welcome seasonal change has provided hope that we can endure this COVID marathon and look forward to brighter days in the future.  As the COVID numbers have continued to increase in BC, I’m happy to report that our Blacklock Community continues to do a great job in following the safety protocols.  Keep up the good work everyone!

With this welcomed, warmer weather and our desire to do as much outdoor learning as possible, we are asking that you send your child to school with a water bottle, appropriate footwear (preferably no flip-flops), and a hat.

Our in-school Purdy’s chocolate bar fundraiser to ‘Raise Funds to Raise a Roof’ for our new Outdoor Learning Space is off to a slow start.  Here’s hoping that we can gain some momentum as we move forward.  Perhaps, you might also consider purchasing these for any special event or just as a treat for you or your children.  Milk chocolate bars, white chocolate smileys, and milk chocolate smileys are $2.00 each and will be available for purchase in two ways:  at the Office before and after school and in the classroom right before Recess on Tuesdays and Fridays.

We are working on preparations for the next school year and are looking for your feedback in regards to the following:  calendar magnet – do you like it?  do you use it?  should we do it again?; photographer – we have a local company in mind that we want to switch to….would you prefer to stay with Lifetouch?; school supplies kits – do you like that we offer that?  is it convenient? or do you prefer to go out and buy the supplies yourself?    We will be making decisions about these things and others in the next couple weeks, so if you have any feedback for us, please e-mail sweber@sd35.bc.ca and we’ll take it under advisement.

Remember to have your children wear their House Shirts tomorrow (and every Friday) so they can earn points for their house teams.

If your child has misplaced their agenda, there are more available at the Office for $5.00 each.

We have extra stock of House Shirts in the Office and are offering them up for sale for the bargain price of $5.  If you are interested in purchasing one of these shirts, please contact the Office.

Have a good weekend!

2021-2022 REGISTRATION

If you would like to register your child to attend school in September, 2021, you will be able to register either online or in person at your catchment school.  Proper documentation is required at the time of registration.  Your child’s registration will not be processed without the required documentation.  Kindergarten aged children must be five years old by December 31, 2021.

Due to COVID-19 health and safety guidelines, the process for registration and collecting documents may be different than in the past. For information and instructions on how to register, please click here —> Student Registration Letter 2021 and for the Student Registration Form click here —> Student Registration Form_20212022

Although your child’s Care Card is not a required document, it is an important piece of information for the school to have.  Please make sure you have indicated any medical concerns or information that the school should be aware of (i.e. asthma, allergies, etc.).  If you have copies of any medical documents or diagnostic reports for learning or physical needs, please also have a copy of the original (a copy can be made at the school).  Please also have a copy of any Court Orders regarding custody so the school can have a copy on file.
