Hello! I hope this message finds you all well and that your experience with online learning is going as well as can be expected. Thank you to everyone who is supporting our students with this new way of learning. I have the ability to check in on students’ work through myBlueprint and I must say that I am very impressed with the quality of work being completed. Below is a special message from our Support Staff:

Please see below for detailed information on how your child will receive their KM Club foot award as well as how to report the KMs that your child has completed.
For those of you who have been advised by your child’s classroom teacher to report earned house points, please e-mail them to: housepointsbfa@gmail.com
House points have been tallied and the current standings are:
Monkeys – 16,806; Parrots – 16,841; Geckos – 16,754; and Jaguars – 16,839.
For your information and planning, here is the District Approved 2020-2021 School Calendar.
Have a good weekend!

TECHNOLOGY HELP
If your child is having difficulty accessing their teacher’s technology platform with their device, they can access support by emailing supportme@sd35.bc.ca or calling 778-726-4508 Monday-Friday between 8:30am and 4:00pm.
As we continue our journey into at-home learning, our staff are continuing to roll out information for families on different technology platforms and how to get connected. Microsoft Classroom TEAMS and myBlueprint are being widely used across the District. You can find a new Educational Technology Support page on the District website with detailed instructions for these two apps. Visit the page here. If you require more assistance with technology, you can email supportme@sd35.bc.ca.
BLACKLOCK BEDTIME STORIES
Today, on the Blacklock Youtube channel, you will find a special bedtime story featuring Ms. Eppich reading Only One You, with an optional Blacklock challenge at the end.
Tonight at 6:00pm, you can access your choice of the chapter book series that Mrs. Huang is reading by clicking here. The choices are BFG (geared towards Grade K-3) or Ban This Book (geared towards Grade 3-5).
BLACKLOCK KM CLUB
Mr. and Mrs. Huang are keeping track of our KM Club; so, please email them at BFAkmclub@gmail.com each time your child completes either 5 km of walking/running or 15 km of biking.
On the last Thursday of each month, between the hours of 9:30am and 10:30am, staff will be available at the school to hand out feet to any children who have achieved the next level in the KM Club. Please do not come to the school unless you have received an e-mail advising that you are to pick up the foot award for your child for that month. If you do not receive an e-mail, please encourage your child to continue participating in this important physical activity.
FAMILY & COMMUNITY SUPPORT
District and school staff are continuing to provide support for our families during this challenging time. The District website has a Family & Community Support page to help parents/guardians cope with the impacts of COVID-19. This page includes links to resources including a comprehensive guide developed by the Langley Children Committee, containing health, housing, and financial support information. On this page you will also find a new weekly blog launched by Gail Markin, who is our District Teacher for Social Emotional Learning. She will be covering a new health and wellness topic every time. Thank you to our community partners for their ongoing support. Visit the page here.
The B.C. government is providing a new Emergency Relief Support Fund and has added service flexibility for parents of children with special needs to help during the COVID-19 pandemic. Click here for more information.
