Blacklock Blast – April 29

April 29, 2021

Hope this message finds you and your family well.  Not much to report this week.  Stay tuned for next week’s Blast, when we hope to share photos of our new Outdoor Classroom and Performance Space.  Purdy’s fundraising to ‘Raise a Roof’ continues for this space and we thank you for all your support!

Also, next Friday our students will have an opportunity to see a live performance by Candy Bones Theatre called ‘Oopsie – Is it Ok to Make Mistakes?’.  Part workshop/part performance, this presentation includes theatre, tap dance, and shadow puppetry with the goal of deepening our awareness of the connection to self, others, and the world.

HD Stafford PAC are wanting to connect with our Grade 5 parents and we encourage you to see below for more information about some of their upcoming events.

Spare agendas are available at the Office for the discounted price of $3.00 each.

We here at the HD Stafford PAC are looking ahead and want to connect with our incoming families for next year. To do this, on May 5th at 7pm we are hosting a one hour drop in Virtual Meet & Greet to say hi and meet other HDSMS parents.

We also wanted to share information about the HDSMS PAC AGM via Zoom on May 19th at 6:30pm where we will be voting in the PAC executive board for next year.

READY SET LEARN

Ready, Set, Learn (RSL) is an early learning initiative sponsored by the Ministry of Education. This initiative is intended for families of three to five-year olds to develop positive connections with the school system and with participating community agencies. In alignment with the province’s Early Learning Framework, Ready, Set, Learn aims to provide pre-Kindergarten children with opportunities to learn more about their world in an age-appropriate way. Due to COVID-19, the District is currently unable to offer in-person sessions, however, videos have been developed and curated to provide children and families ways to engage with each other and the world while developing literacy, numeracy and social emotional understandings. The following link will take you to our Ready, Set, Learn webpage where you will find these videos. Please continue to check back for additional videos throughout the spring.

Due to COVID-19 health and safety guidelines, the process for registration and collecting documents may be different than in the past. For information and instructions on how to register, please click here —> Student Registration Letter 2021 and for the Student Registration Form click here —> Student Registration Form_20212022

Although your child’s Care Card is not a required document, it is an important piece of information for the school to have.  Please make sure you have indicated any medical concerns or information that the school should be aware of (i.e. asthma, allergies, etc.).  If you have copies of any medical documents or diagnostic reports for learning or physical needs, please also have a copy of the original (a copy can be made at the school).  Please also have a copy of any Court Orders regarding custody so the school can have a copy on file.
