Yesterday brought some much needed joy! The Drive-By Car Parade enabled us to connect with you from a distance and it was wonderful to see so many of your smiling faces as we drove by. Hopefully, you were cheered up as much as we were. Stay tuned for both a parent and school video about the parade to be posted to our Youtube channel next week.
Here is SD#35’s Parent Guide for Supporting Learning. Take the time to read this well-written and informative document. It will help you understand how teachers and support staff will be implementing the Continuity of Learning Plan. The BC Ministry of Education’s Keep Learning site is available to you as well and I particularly encourage you to look at the Frequently Asked Questions section as we move forward in this new world.
If your child is having difficulty with accessing their teacher’s technology platform with their device, they can access support by emailing supportme@sd35.bc.ca or calling 778-726-4508 Monday-Friday between 8:30am and 4:00pm.
Some families have asked if bike riding can be counted towards KM Club…..the answer is ‘Yes!’ Mr. and Mrs. Huang will once again be keeping track of our KM Club; so, please email them at BFAkmclub@gmail.com each time your child completes either 5 km of walking/running or 15 km of biking.
Blacklock Bedtime Stories is up and running again! You can watch Mr. Huang and Rango the Library Chameleon reading tonight’s bedtime story at 6:00pm on the Blacklock Fine Arts Elementary Youtube channel by clicking here.
House points have been tallied and the current standings are:
Monkeys – 16,751; Parrots – 16,432; Geckos – 16,694; and Jaguars – 16,704.
Thank you to everyone who supported our Purdy’s and T-Shirt zoo fundraisers! To date, we have raised $1,049 for the Australia Zoo! We have only three full boxes of Purdy’s chocolate bars left (20 bars per box). We would like to sell these final three unopened boxes for $40 each and can only accept payment by e-transfer. Rest assured, these full boxes have been safely locked away in a cupboard and never been opened. You can ensure a ‘safe’ transfer of the product by simply opening the box, dumping the sealed chocolate bars out, recycling the outer box, and then washing your hands. If you’re interested in buying a box, please e-mail Mrs. Weber to make arrangements.

2020/2021 SCHOOL YEARPlease let Mrs. Weber know at sweber@sd35.bc.ca if your child will not be returning to Blacklock Fine Arts in September. All Grades KGN through 4 will be expected to return to us and Grade 5 students will automatically be registered at HD Stafford Middle School for the Fall, unless we are told otherwise. If you have any younger children who plan to start Kindergarten in September, please contact Mrs. Weber as soon as possible.
