Blacklock Blast – April 9

April 9, 2018

Welcome back everyone!  I’m hoping that these April showers will bring lots of May flowers!  This is shaping up to be a busy week at Blacklock.  In fact, we’re gearing up for another great Summer learning session here at Blacklock.  Information regarding classes offered and registration details can be found by clicking on the following links:

The brochures and other basic information are also available on the district Summer Session site: http://sd35summersession.ca/

Tomorrow morning at 9:00am your PAC will be meeting here at the school.  I’m sure one of the agenda items will be the upcoming Pub Night Fundraiser, which will take place on Saturday, April 14, at 6:00pm at the Artful Dodger in South Langley.  Tickets for this fundraiser are $20 each, include a burger and a drink, and are available at the office.  Please come out and support our school!

On Wednesday, April 11, we will be practicing a school-wide emergency evacuation drill.  As part of this drill, staff will be releasing students directly from the marshalling area (the North field) into the care of their parents/guardians.  This would be the procedure that would occur in the event of an actual emergency.  The students will be dismissed in an orderly fashion, one by one under the direction of their teacher, so please line up in front of your child’s class and wait your turn.  As this is the first time practicing this, we would appreciate your patience and understanding as we work through this process.  Your children’s safety, as always, is our utmost concern.

Thursday, April 12, will be ‘Wear a Jersey Day’, where our school will join many other schools to show our support of the Humboldt Broncos, their families, the First Responders, and the community by wearing a team jersey.  The impact of this tragic event has been felt all over the world and is a reminder of how important it is to value, treasure, and take advantage of each day that we have with our children and each other. Our love and prayers go out to everyone impacted by this tragedy.

Friday, April 13, is early dismissal for Collaboration Day.  Students will be dismissed at 1:30pm and we would ask you to please make arrangements to have your child picked up on time, as there will be no supervision after 1:30pm.

Please make note of the following calendar updates:
