Students’ first formal written report will be published on Monday, December 4, by 3:00pm. Please ensure that you have logged into the Family Portal so that you can access your child’s Report Card. SD35 – MyEdBC Help website
As you may already be aware, this year our traditional Christmas/Winter Solstice Sing-A-Long will be held at HD Stafford Middle School on Thursday, December 14, to allow room for all our families to attend! Students will need to arrive at HD Stafford at 5:30pm and the official start time will be at 6:00pm. Kindergarten and Grade 1 students will report to the small Gym, and Grade 2 through 5 students will enter the big Gym with their parents. Students are to sit in their divisional row and parents/friends are to make their way to the seating area assigned to them. Wear your Christmas best on this evening.
The last week of school will culminate in our traditional ‘Breakfast With Santa’, commencing at 9:15am in the Gym. As in years past, donations will be accepted at this breakfast. We would encourage each child to bring $2 as a donation; these funds will go to support our Blacklock Families Christmas Hampers. We will also have themed days this last week as follows:
Monday, December 18 – Holiday Hats
Tuesday, December 19 – Winter Sparkles
Wednesday, December 20 – Holiday Sweaters
Thursday, December 21 – Pajamas or Grinch colours

Social Media Awareness Family Session – Virtual Presentation on December 5th @6:30pm
In partnership with the Ministry of Education and Childcare’s erase strategy, due to high demand, an additional “Social Media Awareness” Family Session will be offered on December 5th at 6:30pm. STUDENT LEARNINGThe Ministry of Education has made changes to the process through which we communicate student learning (report cards). Because the Langley School District is complying with the new Ministry of Education Reporting Order, reporting will look different than what you’re used to. This year, there will be five opportunities to receive information about your child’s learning. These will include both informal and formal written reports and student inclusive conferences. As always, staff are available for you to ask any questions as we work together to ensure that every child moves forward in their learning. Because of this transition, the school calendars that were posted to both the School District and Blacklock websites were unclear. Therefore, here are the dates with respect to communicating student learning that you need to be aware of:
- December 4 – Report Card published in MyED BC – Grades K-5
- March 6 – 2 Hour Early Dismissal to allow for Student Inclusive Conferences – Grades K-5
- March 7 – No Students In Attendance to allow for Student Inclusive Conferences – Grade K-5
- May 6 – Informal Learning Update e-mailed home – Grades K-5
- June 27 – Final Formal Report Card published online in MyED BC
