Blacklock Blast – February 22

February 22, 2019

It’s been a short, but busy week.  We are sure hoping that the snow is done for this winter!  A few activities that happened this week were:  talent show auditions wrapped up, the Dragon pod dissected owl pellets, the Phoenix pod walked up to HD Stafford to see the Zombie Apocalypse performance, and the Owl pod rehearsed for their upcoming pod show ‘Seasons’.

Thank you to all of you who took the time over the Family Day long weekend to help your children learn their phone numbers.  House points have been awarded and the current scores are:

Gryffindor – 3,854     Hufflepuff – 3,861     Ravenclaw – 3,805     Slytherin – 3,858

Next week, students can earn more house points by wearing a pink shirt on both Tuesday and Wednesday to support anti-bullying and diversity week AND, once again, by wearing their Harry Potter House T-shirt on Thursday.

Please remember that Monday, February 25, is Report Card Preparation Day and students will be dismissed at 10:45am.  Please make arrangements for your children to be picked up by that time, as there will be no supervision after 10:45am.

The Langley School District has established ‘Diversity and Respect Week’ to coincide with Pink Shirt Day in February to promote awareness, acceptance, reconciliation and inclusion for all members of the school community.  During this week, schools across the District will be recognizing and celebrating the diversity found within our schools through lessons, activities, assemblies and other events that serve to promote empathy, understanding and the importance of inclusion.  This work reflects the District’s Mission, Vision and Values that state “Our schools foster an inclusive and accepting culture.”

There are two weeks to go before Term 2 Report Cards are published online.  We would encourage you to try to login to your MyEd BC Family Portal Account as soon as possible.  This will ensure that you can get online and are ready to access your child’s report card on March 8.  If you have any trouble getting online, please feel free to contact the office for assistance.  For help on how to login, click here –> Reminder-Family Portal-Report Cards and here –>  SD35 Family Portal
