Good Afternoon Blacklock Families! This week, our children celebrated the Year of the Tiger. The Kindergarten students created lanterns, dragons, and musical instruments for their parade. The Tiger embodies courage and bravery, so this New Year symbolizes resilience and strength. Happy Chinese New Year!
On Monday, we celebrated Mr. Bert’s last day as custodian at Blacklock Fine Arts Elementary. The staff honoured him with a luncheon that included a special toast to wish him well in his Retirement! We showered him with gifts to show our appreciation of all his hard work over the years. Mr. Bert then was escorted through the school to visit all of the classrooms, where the students and staff had prepared cards, poetry, and songs to send him on his way. It was unfortunate that, at this time, due to COVID-19 we were not able to include families in his farewell. However, Mr. Bert has promised to come visit often and we are hoping that in the Spring we will be able to give families a chance to see him and wish him well. Please join us in welcoming our new Custodian Mr. Hak. We welcome him to our school community!
A big shout out to the Blacklock PAC and our Fundraising Coordinator Lindsey Bain for organizing the Me-n-Ed’s Pizza Parlour Fundraiser and the Ralph’s Farm Market/Meridian Meats Gift Card Fundraiser. Coming home in your child’s backpack today is the information sheet that should have gone home yesterday with the Gift Card Fundraiser Tracking Form. Please read through it to help you understand what the fundraiser is about. Hoping that you will be able to support the PAC’s fundraising initiatives to help raise a roof for our Outdoor Classroom.
If your child will be absent from school for any reason, please remember to let us know either by phone 604-530-318 or by e-mail at BFAAttendanceVoicemail@sd35.bc.ca
