February 6, 2020
Our week has been filled with lots of practice sessions in preparation for the Axe Capoeira performance put on by our students, which will take place tomorrow, February 7, in our Gym at 1:30pm. We encourage all of you to attend and show your support for all the hard work that your children have put into this. It promises to be very entertaining!
Today, your child received a Parent Survey regarding an outdoor learning space and school garden that is being designed by KPU students for our school. They have asked for feedback from students, parents, and staff in order to help them achieve this. We would appreciate it if you would complete the Parent Survey and return it to either your child’s teacher or to the office by Monday, February 10.
We continue to offer Soft Start for our students in our Gym from 8:30am to 8:47am. This is not a ‘Before School’ care program, but rather it is meant to both help students transition into their school day and offer them a place to wait for school to begin in a warm, dry place during inclement weather; therefore, we would like to remind everyone of the following guidelines:
– Students only in the Gym (Supervision will be provided by Staff)
– Grades 4-5 students to go to the upstairs common area outside their classrooms
– Grade K-3 students to go to the Gym
As we are definitely in a season of very wet, muddy weather we would suggest that students bring an extra set of clothes (pants, socks, shirt, shoes) to school so that they have something to change into in the event of a slip into a puddle or mud while playing outside. In this way, parents won’t need to make an extra trip to the school and students won’t miss out on class time.
A reminder that February 14 (Pro-D Day), February 17 (Family Day), and February 24 (Report Card Prep/Design & Assessment Day) are all days where there will be no school for students. Also, please note that the PAC has organized a Kids Swap Meet on February 22 from 10:00am to 2:00pm in our Gym. Please see below for more details.
A new Blacklock Bedtime Story will be posted on: Youtube: The Mischievous Librarian every Thursday night at 6:00pm. Be sure to check it out! If you haven’t watched previous episodes, they can be found there also.
Here are the current standings:
Monkeys – 10,691; Parrots – 10,398; Geckos – 10,454; and Jaguars – 10,767.
Have a great weekend!
