Blacklock Blast – January 23

January 23, 2020

In this morning’s assembly, we were excited to share an introduction to the Axe Capoeira performance and workshops, which will begin on Monday with an outstanding performance in the Gym by this group.  If you haven’t had a chance yet to sign up, please do so before Monday.  Also in this morning’s assembly, we shared information about an exciting event (Winter Run 2020) that will take place during KM Club next Wednesday, January 29.  All students who participate will receive a snowflake; if your child is absent on that day, there will be an alternate make up run….no one will miss out.  Winter Run 2020

House points will be awarded for all students who wear their House Shirts on Monday, January 27.

Reminder that tomorrow is Subway Hot Lunch Day.

The District would like to remind you of the following:

From time to time students may encounter strangers near the school property or in the community that are of concern. Students and parents are encouraged to report such incidents to school administration and the RCMP, as warranted. The school administration and the RCMP can then investigate the situation.

Safety and wellbeing are our top priority. As always, it is recommended for students, staff and parents to be vigilant. Out of an abundance of caution, it is recommended that students walk together in pairs, groups or with their parents/guardians, and be aware of their surroundings at all times.

We thank you for supporting the school and helping remind students about safety. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to call the school.

A new Blacklock Bedtime Story will be posted on:  Youtube: The Mischievous Librarian every Thursday night at 6:00pm.  Be sure to check it out!  If you haven’t watched previous episodes, they can be found there also.

Here are the current standings:
Monkeys – 9,340; Parrots – 8,450; Geckos – 9,042; and Jaguars – 8,290.

Have a great weekend!

SCHOOL CASH ONLINE & FIELD TRIPS

Here are the Items available for purchase on School Cash Online:

Grouse Mountain – Divisions 1, 2, 3, & 4 – Deadline: January 31
Snap Tunes – Divisions 5, 6, & 7 – Deadline: January 24
Axe Capoeira Performance & Workshops – School Wide – Deadline: January 24
“M Is For Music” – Grade 2s and 3s – Deadline: February 12 – Volunteer Deadline: January 30

School Cash Online is now the main form of communication for all future field trips.  This means that information about any upcoming field trips for your child will be entered as an Item in School Cash Online and we will no longer be sending home paper copies of these notices.  You will receive an e-mail advising you that there is a new Item available for purchase.  You will then need to click/follow the link that will take you to School Cash Online, where you will login and see the items available for purchase for your child.  Once you’ve clicked into the Item, you will see all the details and will be able to complete a permission form, if required, and be able to submit payment.  This district wide process will be replacing the former one where we used to send home a notice with a permission form attached to it.  Please be reminded that payment options online include credit card (will not accept a Visa Debit or Visa Gift Card) or e-cheque (works with any bank account, not only a chequing one).  If you need information about registering an account on School Cash Online, you can click here –> SCO Registration Info.  All you need to register is our School Board Name (SD#35), our School Name (Blacklock Fine Arts), your child’s name, birth date, and student/pupil number, which can be found on your Family Portal account on MyEdBC.
