Blacklock Blast – June 7

June 7, 2018

The BC weatherman, in his wisdom, has predicted a 100% chance of rain tomorrow.  In meeting with my staff this morning, we have decided to postpone Sports Day to Wednesday, June 27.  The good news is that Pizza Lunch will still go ahead tomorrow!  (We will enjoy a repeat pizza performance on the 27th.)  As much as we would like to, we can’t control the weather.  We apologize for any inconveniences this may have caused.

However, next week is a week still filled with sports action!  Our Grade 5s will be at the Al Anderson pool every day from 1:30-2:30pm to participate in ‘Operation Waterproof’.  Also, starting next week, the whole school will have the opportunity to participate in a series of tennis lessons during their regular PE time.  If you haven’t already, please send in your $7 payment for the tennis lessons so that your child doesn’t miss out.

Last night Langley Community Music School hosted our ‘Strings in Spring’ concert, which included our violin students, Glee Club, and Guitar Club.  This outstanding partnership, developed over the last three years, has culminated in over 70 children playing violin under the instruction of Mr. Peter Ing and Mr. Will Chen.  The students’ performance was a delight and I’m sure that everyone who was there was incredibly proud of them.

As the end of the school year approaches, we encourage parents to log on to MYEDBC before report cards go out at the end of June to check that everything is OK with your account.  For more information, please click here –> Family Portal-Report Cards

We have laid out all the lost and found clothing in the halls and would ask that you take some time to walk through and claim those things that belong to your children.  Whatever is not claimed by the last day of school will be donated to charity.  Do any of these look familiar? :

Have a good rest of the week and weekend!
