We have been blessed to receive a grant which enables us to install an Outdoor Learning and Performing Space. Work on this project began yesterday and you’ve probably noticed much activity outside the Main Entrance of our school. Our SD#35 Grounds and Maintenance Crews have been working hard to make this a reality and we thank them for all their work! Our PAC have taken on the goal to fundraise approximately $40,000 to purchase a cover for this Outdoor Classroom. The Purdy’s Easter Fundraiser currently underway is the first of many exciting opportunities for you to support this project. Below is a design idea for what this will look like:

Diversity Shoe Project – created by Division 1 & 4
This project was inspired by the book Fauja Singh Keeps Going, by Simran Jeet Singh, as well as our drive to learn more, deepen our empathy and understanding and celebrate our uniqueness! Special thanks to Mrs. Huang for the amazing idea and the gift of Literature. Also, thank you Ms. Grigg and Mrs. Jarman for your leadership in this project! Here are some quotes from our students:
I picked respect because everyone is nice in a different way – Aislinn
We did this project because it is diversity week. These words are important because people used to be bullied because of what they ate or what culture they are from. – Colton
We did this project to remember that every person is different. – Harrison
Everyone is special in their own way because you are special no matter what. Being different is a very good thing because you are different. All of you are. Being different is what makes you you! – Isabelle
Our shoes tell us how different we all are. Like if someone likes a boy or a girl. We all have something that makes us unique. I think we all have a spark. – Nevaeh
I chose these words – pride, love, happy, kind, helpful, food, grateful, hair, value, gender. The shoes are based on Fauja Singh. – Leah
This is my favourite project I have ever done at school. All of the shoes are different. – Miles
My favourite word is “unique” because I am very unique. Unique means different and I’m pretty different. I’m from India and I have a different fashion sense than my family. – Anahat
We had to bring some shoes from home to paint. I loved painting with my class and my awesome teacher. – AJ
Some shoes are small or big. – Audrina
It is very colourful. – Liam
It was very fun because I like to paint. – Kian
At the end we put down good words. – Tiffany
