May 16, 2019
Today has been a busy day at Blacklock. This afternoon we welcomed our new Kindergarten families to the school and this morning we had our transition meeting for our Grade 5s, who will be leaving us to commence their middle years at HD Stafford.
As a reminder, students are asked to not use anything with wheels inside the school. In particular, if your child wears ‘wheelies’ to school, they are to take them off and use their indoor shoes inside the building. Wheels are permitted for students in Grades 3-5 on the blacktop area outside the Gym only, as long as they are wearing helmets.
Tomorrow we will have Treat Day as well as a House Shirt Spirit Day. Please dress your child in their house shirts so that they can earn points for their respective houses. The current house points are as follows:
Gryffindor – 6,933 Hufflepuff – 6,932 Ravenclaw – 6,992 Slytherin – 6,956
Also, our Family Fun Night is scheduled for June 18 and the PAC needs your support to make this event happen. It is worth mentioning that our school really benefits from the hard work and efforts of our PAC, which consists of a very small group of women, and we would encourage you to join them by volunteering your time in order to make this a successful event. See below for information on how to sign up.
MESSAGES FROM THE PAC
On Tuesday, May 7, the PAC held elections for the 2019-2020 school year. The results are as follows:
President – Jenny Jager, Vice-President – Erin Colivas, Secretary – Meredith Dew, D-PAC – Erin Wilson, Treasurer – Cindy Chung, Hot Lunch Coordinator – Cindy Haley, Fundraising – Michelle Young, Events – Lana Kirkwood
Neufeld order forms were sent home this week. If you’d like to order anything, please note that orders are due back on or before Monday, June 3rd, and that the delivery date will be on Monday, June 17, at 2:30pm.
We are about to get busy with end of year events. To date, all the work has fallen on a few people’s shoulders and we are finding it hard to sustain this. We’ve come to the point where we have to seriously consider not hosting these events, unless we get more volunteer help. At this time, we are asking for volunteers for Family Fun Night, which takes place on June 18. If you can volunteer your time, please click here –> Volunteer Sign-Up
Please keep in mind that all the money raised at these events goes back into the school to support our children. We look forward to a successful event!
SUMMER READING PROGRAM
