Yesterday, the school gathered outside and 11 lucky students got to celebrate their classes’ accomplishments with the Readathon by throwing a pie in Mr. Thiessen’s face. It was wonderful to see the excitement in all of the children and staff! Thank you Mr. Thiessen for always being such a great sport!
At our staff meeting yesterday, our team agreed to host a Sports Day on Friday, June 10. More details to come, but you can look forward to a fun day on the Blacklock field, culminating with the traditional Grade 5 vs. Staff Tug-of-War!
The month of June is shaping up to be a busy one, which includes our Strings in Spring Concert at the Langley Community Music School (1:00pm for students only and 6:00pm for family and friends). Please note the revised date is now June 20. We look forward to celebrating the accomplishments of all of our violin students! The Grade 5 Leaving Ceremony will commence at 5:00pm on Thursday, June 23, in our Gym. Grade 5 parents and families, please pay close attention to any e-mails that you receive from your child’s teacher in regards to this special event.

MESSAGES FROM THE BLACKLOCK PACAfter last week’s PAC Annual General Meeting, there are still several vacancies on next year’s PAC that need to be filled. Specifically, we need a Secretary and Hot Lunch Coordinator. Please step forward to help us cover these positions, as we want to provide the best environment and opportunities for our children. The long-awaited Blacklock Fun Fair will take place on Friday, June 3, from 5:00pm to 8:00pm on the school grounds. Everyone is Welcome! There will be rides, concession, face painting, cake walk, etc. Rides will require a wristband and the Cake Walk is $2.00/turn. Wristbands are available for purchase on Munchalunch and in person at the event. ($15.00 first wristband, $10 for subsequent riders, kids 3 and under ride free) **NOTE – Cash only on the night of the Fair.
We are requesting donations of commercially purchased cakes, cupcakes, pastries, and confectionary cakes for the Cake Walk. Please let Carla know if you are able to contribute by emailing: blacklockpac@gmail.com
